It is an icon of our architectural preservation and promotional efforts. This beautiful ancient heritage with traditional designs, artwork, materials and craftsmanship was on the verge of ruins before its restoration back to its original form with its essence intact. It gives us valuable and unique insight into ancient buildings and heritage, in this concrete jungle that has now become Kathmandu. With or without the restaurant, the building itself is something to watch, admire and preserve.
You can dine here at low tables with floor chairs similar to the way local Nepalis dine.
What Bhojan Griha prides itself in the most is the food- that is grown, cooked and finally brought to your table. Unlike any other restaurants, we grow food in our very own farms in Gundu, Maharajgunj and other lands around Nepal as we have increasingly become very wary of the poisonous foods being produced and imported to Nepal. Our owners believe that food production methods in Nepal have reached inconsumable levels with the amount of chemicals used to inject in vegetables, fruits and fertilize the soil. We grow 100% organic food using only organic resources and fertilizers without any form of chemically induced growth. Come, have a taste and decide for yourself!
We have an organic shop “Khetibazaar” selling food from our very own farms inside the restaurant premises. “Khalikhutta” is another initiative inside the shop that has brought forward handmade, local Nepali products like Yoga mats, lip and body balms, bags, bed sheets, water bottles etc... They have also promoted and prioritized Nepali women, disabled and marginalized community initiated businesses by using their products and raw materials.
Our efforts have always remained genuine and sincere to offer a traditional Nepali dining experience with organic local food, folk dance, music and ancient architecture to behold and admire.
